Travel Tips – First Aid, Medical & Toiletries Kit
Your compact travel medical/toiletries kit might comprise of the following:
- High sunblock protection (at least SPF 15)
- Moisturising Aloe Vera cream for After Sun soothing
- Amoxycillin or Ciprofloxacin all-purpose antibiotics (prescription needed)
- Malaria tablets (ask your doctor's advice on this -- and complete the prescribed course!)
- Antiseptic skin cleanser/wipes
- Headache tablets - Aspirin, Paracetamol (acetaminophen), etc.
- Multivitamin tablets
- Lip salve with sun protection
- Syringes and needles (but don't go mad - only if going off the beaten track)
- Cold/flu pills (with decongestant)
- Sore throat sweets
- Plasters (band aids)
- Bandage roll
- Scissors
- Tweasers
- Condoms and/or contraceptive pills
- Antiseptic cream
- Travel/motion sickness pills
- Anti-histamine pills
- Laxative pills
- Diarrhoea blocker Pepto-Bismol similar (Bismuth: upset stomach and diarrhoea reliever) - limit size (buy while away when you need it)
- Oral re-hydration mix - should you become dehydrated
- Mouth ulcer treatment (especially if taking Choraquine malaria medication)
- Hydrocortisone cream (1%)
- Iodine tablets (with taste remover) to purify water are normally handy, especially if you are off the beaten track
- Toothbrush - foldaway or brush cover
- Roll on antiperspirant deodorant
- Shaving Cream & Razors - "King of Shaves" oil in a small bottle lasts a long time
- Shampoo & Conditioner in one
- Tampons & Sanitary towels
- Nail Clippers
- Travel Washing Line
- Universal sink plug
